Asia Bibi CSW has welcomed the news of Asia Bibi’s acquittal by the Supreme Court on 31 October after she was falsely accused of blasphemy in 2009. She has now been released from jail but given the sensitivities surrounding her, we are unable to give any further information or comment at this time. The safety of Asia Bibi, her family and the Christian community in Pakistan, remain our prime concern.

Asia Noreen (who is more commonly known as Asia Bibi) is a Christian mother of five who was sentenced to death for allegedly committing blasphemy (insulting the Prophet Mohammed). She was imprisoned in 2009 and on death row since 2010: the Supreme Court overturned her death sentence and declared her innocence. The landmark judgement and her release have been an amazing answer to prayer.

Please continue to pray:

  • For Asia Bibi’s safety.
  • For strength and protection of her family.
  • For stability within the country, protection and peace for the wider Christian community in Pakistan.
