Prayers break through for Burma!
CSW, Partners and 3P Ministries would like to thank everyone who prayed for Burma on the Global Day of Prayer.
The London event was a great success with over 150 guests gathering to pray. Speakers, guests and staff were profoundly touched by all they heard. And one thing was clear; God was there in our midst and our prayers were being heard. The tangible presence of God electrified the room.
“It was a powerful, moving and very special day. There was a great feeling of the presence of God, and a real belief that our prayers and our actions will make a difference for the people of Burma, and that one day, partly because of our prayers, we will see real change in Burma”. Ben Rogers CSW East Asia Team Leader
Just back from a trip to the Thailand-Burma border, Ben Rogers gave an insightful and moving overview of latest developments in Burma and the importance of this year in the run-up to ‘sham’ elections in Burma. Hearing testimonies of former prisoners, internally displaced people and many others affected by the actions of the military regime, the prayer time that followed was “mighty for the pulling down of strongholds”.
“The day really helped me to understand the Burmese situation in much greater depth. It was really helpful to hear directly from those who had been forced from their country…. I feel more knowledgeable and now feel better able to pray.” John Perret
Hearing the latest from the Partners team on the frontline on the Thailand-Burma border was a real eye-opener for many of us. Their short film, The Lullaby, inspired us all to keep praying for those who have lost loved ones in the face of oppression. The brave work of Partners and Free Burma Rangers providing relief to the suffering was an inspiration.

For many, the highlight of the day was hearing the testimonies of Karen refugees now living in the UK. Hearing the tragic stories of lives destroyed and loved ones lost in the face of cruel oppression left the audience in awe of their courage and faith. And hearing their desire to forgive and pray for their persecutors was a challenge to us all.
“To meet the Karen refugees was very special and to learn about the terrible situations they had experienced before coming to this country, and then to hear them sing in harmony in worship to God in their own language was a testimony of their confidence in God in spite of all they had been through. This was very moving.” Godfrey Brown
“It was great to be able to share our story with CSW supporters – we really appreciated it that people came to support our country. It was very special that people prayed for us. This really encouraged us.” Htoo Ku Hsar Say Karen Refugee Committee
Please do keep praying for Burma in the run-up to elections this year. Don’t let the cries of the oppressed go unanswered – if we keep praying, we will see the walls come down in Burma.
“Prayer really is the most powerful weapon we have to stand against the wickedness that we see perpetrated in Burma today. So let us not forget to remain steadfast on behalf of the millions of IDPs and refugees throughout this coming year…” Sarah Armitage Partners Relief and Development
