The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
Prayer underpins everything CSW does. When our staff team meet Christians facing the daily threat of discrimination, persecution, harassment, violence or imprisonment, the one thing they ask us is to pray for them. We know that our prayers are powerful and mighty in bringing change and justice to the persecuted – with God all things are possible.
We want to help you bring about change through your prayers. Our easy-to-use will equip you and your church to pray for the persecuted. Here’s how:
- Prayer Diary – Use CSW’s Prayer Diary to pray daily for those facing religious persecution and the people who bravely defend them.
- Prayer Wall – Prompted to pray for a particular person, issue or country? Add your prayer to the prayer wall.
- IDOP prayer pack – this prayer toolkit will help your church to pray for the persecuted Church on the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted Church or on any Sunday throughout the year!
Here are just a few examples of the lives changed through our prayers:
- Bombs intended for two Nigerian churches were foiled and a bomb-making factory was discovered by police.
- Cuban pastor, Omar Gude Pérez, was released from prison on ‘conditional liberty’, in February 2011.
- Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad were released from Iran’s Evin prison. They had no doubt that “God heard the prayers of His people” and were “encouraged and sustained” by our prayers.
- Shahbaz Bhatti, the late Pakistani Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs, so valued the prayers of fellow believers around the world that he requested one minute prayer every day.
