Standing in solidarity with the family of God is not only biblical, it’s a privilege.

In Acts 12, the mandate is set for us to unite in prayer to God for those suffering in prison because of their faith. In this chapter we hear of the church praying earnestly for Peter while he is in prison, followed by a miraculous escape as he was led out of prison by God’s angels. Your prayers too could have that effect on someone’s life…

As we launch our Cut the Chains campaign in aid of countless prisoners of conscience worldwide, we encourage you to stand with us in prayer for them, just as the early church did so for Peter.

On the international day of prayer for the persecuted church (IDOP), and indeed long after, we hope you will use the resources in CSW’s prayer toolkit to stand with us in prayer. You can use them to plan a special prayer event; lead a slot in your regular Sunday service; in small groups or as a resource for your personal devotions.

You may be moved to pray for the 2000 Christians imprisoned in Eritrea, for Younis Masih sentenced to death in Pakistan or for human rights defenders imprisoned in Vietnam; or indeed for the many other prisoners not named in these resources. Whoever your prayers focus on, be assured the you stand with other Christians, earnestly praying to God for their family.

Your prayers and support are an invaluable life line for persecuted Christians around the word and we thank you for standing together in prayer with us
