Saturday May 15th, London City Church Tabernacle - 2,000 young Christians took up the challenge to "Pray, Protest and Provide" for persecuted Christians. Music from The World Wide Message Tribe and Shine formed the backdrop to 'OUTCRY - A Day For The Suffering Church.' The crowd heard from Wuille Ruiz Figueroa, a Peruvian lawyer falsely imprisoned for five years, and the UK President of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, Baroness Caroline Cox. The message was driven home by the Patron of OUTCRY, Andy Hawthorne.
During the afternoon, around 800 people heard a stirring call from the Salvation Army's Phil Wall to take responsibility for their fellow brothers and sisters. This was echoed by the Co-ordinator of OUTCRY, John Ranson, in the words, "Love sees no border - One Church, One Voice." Afternoon delegates were also able to attend workshops giving practical advice on supporting and campaigning for suffering Christians.
"We prayed this would be a significant day and we believe it has been," said John Ranson. "Our prayer is the message spreads and OUTCRY groups, dedicated to standing in solidarity with persecuted Christians, spring up all over the country."
As delegates departed, they were given information packs with details about OUTCRY, updates on recent cases and a petition to the President of Peru, calling for the speedy release of prisoners still unjustly detained.
