This Advent we’re standing with the people of Mexico.
For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does; The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (Psalm 33:4-5)
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4: 8-9)
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
O Lord, today we lift Mexico to you in prayer. We remember that for the first few years of your life on Earth as Jesus, you had no home, and commit to you those in Mexico who have also been forced from their homes because of their faith. Grant them somewhere safe to stay and, where possible, enable them to return to the homes they’ve lost. Amen.
