Lord Jesus, would You bless Your church in Egypt as You say in Your Word, “blessed is Egypt my people” (Isaiah 19: 25). Thank You for their example of persevering faith.

This week, please:

• Thank God for the new interfaith relationships that have formed through the revolution as, among other things, churches opened their doors to the wounded and those needing peace and shelter. Pray that these will continue to bear fruit as Egypt enters a new season.
• Pray for the newly-elected government, especially for the Islamist parties. Pray that they would promote religious freedom for all faith groups and equality of citizenship.
• Pray that the lifting of the ‘state of emergency’ which has enabled the authorities to deny human rights and privacies for so many years and the hand-over to civilian rule by the military will be sincere and full.
• Pray that there will be freedom and truth in the state media and that everyone will be given a fair voice.
• Pray for the young people in Egypt as they pioneer new ideas and influence society, pray that their desire for freedom, equality and democracy will not be in vain.
• Pray for the presidential elections planned for June; that God would bring the right person forward to lead Egypt.
