The widows of the 2008 violence in Orissa State, India, are still waiting for justice. Over 90 people were killed and more than 50,000 people displaced during a wave of anti-Christian attacks.

Our hearts break, Lord, when we think of the suffering of the bereaved widows. Please bless them with Your comfort.

This week, please:

• Pray that the attackers would be brought to justice, despite India’s notoriously slow legal system.
• Pray that the widows, many of whom are now struggling to survive, would be provided for.
• Pray that the charities and churches which are trying to help them would be wise about the best ways of doing this.
• Ask God to give victims of violence courage to speak out about their experiences.
• Pray for the pending appeal to the Supreme Court, to reopen 30 murder cases which were closed without investigation.
• Ask God to make violence against religious minorities in India a thing of the past.
