This week, we’re rejoicing and giving thanks for all the ways we’ve seen our prayers answered this year: whether it’s been the release of someone from prison, an improvement in prison conditions, or a milestone in our work at the United Nations! Each answered prayer is part of making religious freedom a reality.

Let’s begin by thanking God for all our amazing supporters – including you! It’s been so wonderful to meet so many of you this year, at events all over the country. Thank God with joy for everything that CSW supporters do.

It’s such a joy to see people released from prison after months or even years of campaigning, advocacy and prayer! Today, let’s pray for continued protection for all the prisoners we have seen released over the past year, including Huang Yizi, Nguyen Van Ly and many others.

Michelle Chaudhry is one of our partners in Pakistan. She is one of the hardest working women we know – and we know quite a few! Her tireless work for religious freedom through the Cecil and Iris Chaudhry Foundation fills us with gratitude and joy: let’s thank God for Michelle and her work today.

August saw an unprecedented visit to Mexico by the United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom. Obviously, this was a fantastic chance for him to raise the religious freedom issues in the country: which he did! Let’s thank God again for this fantastic opportunity.

Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. Psalm 115:2-3. Pray through this psalm today for CSW’s work.

In June the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission released a report on the crackdown on human rights in China. CSW gave both written and oral evidence to the inquiry that led to this report, and we are thankful for this opportunity to raise the human rights situation in China with the UK government. Please pray that this report would inform the UK’s diplomatic relationship with China, ensuring that human rights concerns aren’t sidelined for the sake of trade.

Father God, thank you for all the ways you have blessed CSW’s work this year. Though it’s hard sometimes to find joy in the situations we work in, we know that you are powerful and work all things to your good. Please help us to take joy in that today. Amen.
