{"id":26248,"date":"2015-08-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-29T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/prayer\/prayer-diary-enforced-disappearance-2684\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T21:56:50","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:56:50","slug":"prayer-diary-enforced-disappearance-2684","status":"publish","type":"prayer","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/prayer\/prayer-diary-enforced-disappearance-2684\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer Diary: Enforced disappearance"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/246f5c147854ff2bef449576e873a552.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Today, 30 August, is the International day for the Victims of Enforced Disappearance.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today people around the world will be remembering people who have been \u2018disappeared\u2019 &#8211; often by their governments &#8211; as a result of their defence of human rights, or because they spoke up against injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gao Zhisheng (see Week 3) is a Chinese Christian human rights lawyer, who has been disappeared multiple times because he refused to stay quiet about human rights violations against Christians and other minorities. In Colombia a number of people have been disappeared, and in Laos a Christian man named Mr Boontheong has been missing since 2004, after being harassed for his faith on many occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Thank God that the UN has decided to mark the tragedy of enforced disappearances;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray that people around the world would become more aware of the problem of enforced disappearances, and would protest against them;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray for Mr Boontheong\u2019s swift and safe return, along with his wife and young son who were also disappeared;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Ask God to comfort the families of those who are disappeared, as they face uncertainty on the day to day level, and a doubtful future;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Ask God to give them the gift of hope, in a situation that the world may see as hopeless;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray that NGOs such as CSW would be able to campaign for victims of enforced disappearance in a way that doesn\u2019t endanger the victims;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray for oppressive regimes around the world to stop their all too common practice of disappearing people who criticise them.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, 30 August, is the International day for the Victims of Enforced Disappearance.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":7790,"template":"","regions":[],"class_list":["post-26248","prayer","type-prayer","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26248","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/prayer"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26248\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":40918,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26248\/revisions\/40918"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7790"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26248"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"regions","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/regions?post=26248"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
