Many of these countries have seen big developments in the past year or so: whether it\u2019s the November elections in Burma \u2013 the first reasonably free elections in 25 years \u2013 or China\u2019s crackdown on human rights lawyers. There\u2019s still a lot for us to pray about to see real freedom for the people in the region. This year, Laos will host a meeting of ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Nations, an organisation of ten different countries in the region. This meeting would be a perfect time for them to discuss the issue of religious freedom in south-east Asia. In week five of Lent, let\u2019s pray specifically for this diverse, beautiful and often troubled region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please pray particularly for Burma at this time, as the country transitions to a new government. While the election may well herald some positive change for the country, there\u2018s still a long way to go for Burma\u2019s religious minorities, who often face discrimination and violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week, please pray:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Thanking God for a somewhat positive outcome to the 2015 election in Burma;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>For safety for Burma\u2019s religious minorities during this time of transition;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>That Burma\u2019s new government would foster a place where people of all faiths would be able to live together peacefully;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>That human rights, especially freedom of religion, would be a priority for the next meeting of ASEAN;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>For peace and harmony between religious communities in Indonesia, and that the government would act quickly when violence occurs against churches;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>That the international community would continue to investigate the horrific human rights abuses in North Korea would continue to be subjected to international scrutiny;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>For God to work powerfully for the many Christians in China and Laos who have been \u2018disappeared\u2019, so that they would be reunited with their families soon.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our East Asia work encompasses Burma, China, Indonesia, Laos, North Korea and Vietnam.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":7843,"template":"","regions":[],"class_list":["post-26275","prayer","type-prayer","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26275","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/prayer"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26275\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":40945,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26275\/revisions\/40945"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7843"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26275"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"regions","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/regions?post=26275"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
