From restrictive blasphemy laws that are often used to settle personal scores, to biased textbooks that teach children to hate those who follow different faiths other than the majority religion. Pakistan needs your fervent and faithful prayers this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Sunday 1 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today is Easter Sunday, a day when churches will be full of people celebrating Jesus\u2019 resurrection. Sadly in the past this has made them a prime target for attacks: for example, the two church bombings in 2015 in Lahore. Please pray that God would watch over his people as they worship and keep them safe from any violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Monday 2 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In January we asked you to pray for school children in Pakistan who are forced to learn from a biased curriculum that teaches them to look down on other religions and promotes Islam, even in non-religious subjects like science. This is a longstanding problem that exacerbates other religious freedom issues, as children are taught intolerance and hatred: please pray that the curriculum would be changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Tuesday 3 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiran was just going out to buy vegetables for her mother when she was snatched off the street, forcibly married to a man she didn\u2019t know, and told that she had a new name and a new religion: Islam. Kidnapping and forced conversion of Christian and Hindu girls is a heart-breaking problem that desperately needs your prayers. Please pray that girls like Kiran would be reunited with their families soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Wednesday 4 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last month we asked you to pray for Michelle Chaudhry, founder of the Cecil and Iris Chaudhry Foundation. Today, pray that God would provide for the work of the Foundation generally: they are tireless in their work to protect human rights, especially freedom of religion or belief, undertaking often dangerous work with limited resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Thursday 5 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pakistan\u2019s Ahmadiyya Muslim community face daily discrimination and even violence. They are victims of ongoing targeted attacks and killings \u2013 at least six Ahmadis were killed in 2017. Please pray that the anti-Ahmadiyya laws will be repealed so that Ahmadis can freely practise their religion, and that there would be no further violence against their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Friday 6 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, please pray that Taimoor Raza, a Shi\u2019a Muslim who is facing the death sentence for allegedly committing blasphemy on Facebook, would be released and that the charges against him would be dropped. He was arrested in 2016 and if he is executed, he will be the first person to be killed for allegedly committing blasphemy on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Saturday 7 April<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Father God, in the week when we celebrate your Son\u2019s death on the cross and his glorious resurrection, taking away our burden of sin and shame, we pray for everyone in Pakistan who approaches the Easter period fearing that celebrating these events would make them a target. Protect churchgoers this week, we pray, and bring your peace to Pakistan.
