The devastating military coup that shocked the world in February, as well as a long running civil war, have been compounded by economic collapse and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Benedict Rogers, CSW’s Senior Analyst on East Asia, has worked on the country for decades and describes the situation as the ‘darkest of perfect storms’, and asks us to pray for a miracle.

Find out more at csw.org.uk/myanmar

Sunday 21 November

We thank you Lord for the people of Myanmar, for their resilience and their kindness. We give you thanks especially for all those who are working towards a peaceful future for the country – Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Monday 22 November

The ever courageous Cardinal Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, appealed to the military to ‘drop all guns’ and ‘bring medical care’. The country is reportedly running out of oxygen, with PPE and essential medical supplies in dangerously short supply.
