Affirm God\u2019s authority over the nation and his plans for its future today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Monday 4 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pray for religious leaders as their communities look to them for reassurance and guidance. Ask God to grant wisdom and protection at a time when the authorities will be watching them closely for anything that could be perceived as disloyalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Tuesday 5 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For over a decade, Venezuela has provided safe haven to members of the Colombian guerilla group known as the National Liberation Army (ELN). Pray for religious leaders living in areas under ELN control, who have been intimidated and coerced \u2013 under explicit threats of violence \u2013 into complying with the ELN rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Wednesday 6 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under ELN rules, pastors are restricted on what they can preach publicly. Certain topics are completely off limits, including extortion, kidnapping, human rights and women\u2019s empowerment. Some have even been barred from using social media and speaking to the press or human rights groups. Pray for creative ways to stir hope in their community and report human rights abuses safely. Venezuelans in Buenos Aires<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Thursday 7 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pray that those in power in Venezuela, as well as in the United States, would be guided and humbled by the truth of Psalm 22:28 \u2013 \u2018For dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Friday 8 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pray today for the release of Protestant pastor Gricelia Josefina Sol\u00f3rzano Malpica. She is currently serving a prison sentence on unfounded, politically-motivated charges of terrorism, embezzlement and conspiracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Saturday 9 May<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Lord, thank you that you are a God who cannot be surprised or confused. At a complicated time for the people of Venezuela, we ask that your truth and justice would prevail. May neighbours support one another, and leaders rule with integrity.
