{"id":30586,"date":"2020-06-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/reports\/submission-to-37th-session-of-the-universal-periodic-review-4696\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T19:34:22","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:34:22","slug":"submission-to-37th-session-of-the-universal-periodic-review-4696","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/es\/reports\/submission-to-37th-session-of-the-universal-periodic-review-4696\/","title":{"rendered":"Submission to 37th Session of the Universal Periodic Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/a9eaf2ed39d1fc39b609bd1bcee20929.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Introduction<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">1.<span style=\"font-variant-east-asian: normal\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) is a human rights organisation specialising in the right to freedom of religion of belief (FoRB) for all.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">2.<span style=\"font-variant-east-asian: normal\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">CSW welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the Human Right Council\u2019s (HRC) Universal Periodic Report (UPR) on Nepal and wishes to draw attention to particular concerns regarding the right to FoRB in the country.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">3.<span style=\"font-variant-east-asian: normal\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"BodyTextChar\"><span style=\"color:black\">Nepal supported 152 out of a total of 211 recommendations during its second UPR in 2015. However, during the most recent reporting period, the Government of Nepal has failed to fully comply with its obligations under Article 2(3) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) pertaining to right to freedom of religion or belief (Article 18), right to hold opinions and right to freedom of expression (Article 19), right to freedom of association (Article 21) and right to equality and non-discrimination (Article 26).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/upr-37-nepal.pdf\">Click here to download the full submission (PDF).<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nepal is party to the ICCPR.
