Hereby, the signatories, representing the Alliance of Christians of Cuba, our churches and the Cuban people in general. After democratic debate we reached an agreement to make public our position on the following issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We declare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n\n
  1. We are against the government policy of violating the right to freedom of religion and belief contained in article 18 of the International Bill of Human Rights. And we demand that the legal framework be drafted that allows new churches to be registered in order to have legal support within Cuban law. This is necessary so that the Cuban government or any social actor can be held to account when they violate freedom of religion and belief.<\/li>\n\n\n
  2. We demand that the Cuban government respect the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which it is a signatory, and that it integrates the treaties on civil and political liberties that offer a legal framework for respect for the fundamental freedoms of human beings. This implies the immediate release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience who remain in the island’s prisons today, and the immediate cessation of the application of pre-criminal judicial processes because they directly violate the international right to the presumption of innocence, a right that is mentioned in the current constitution of the Republic of Cuba.<\/li>\n\n\n
  3. We demand that the Cuban government respect and support the dignity of women and that violence and femicides within the island cease. For this we demand an economic opening that allows Cuban women to have a decent salary for their work and so that they are not forced to prostitute themselves to obtain food and cover the basic needs of their family. To mitigate against violence against women, we demand that police authorities focus their work on protecting citizens instead of spending their resources on persecuting those who think differently and demonstrate against government policy.<\/li>\n\n\n
  4. We demand the cessation of all manifestations of slavery exercised by the Cuban government. The current situation of workers on the island continues to be precarious as, for their efforts, Cuban citizens do not receive a salary that covers their basic needs despite generating large income that ends up in the government’s coffers. We also support the international lawsuit for practicing slavery that the Cuban government faces because it uses \u201cmedical missions\u201d as a source of foreign currency income for the country, in the process violating the fundamental rights of medical personnel working abroad.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The Alliance of Christians of Cuba will continue defending, praying and fighting for the dignity of the Cuban people. God bless Cuba<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Por la presente, los firmantes, en representaci\u00f3n de la Alianza de Cristianos de Cuba, de nuestras iglesias y del pueblo cubano en general. Despu\u00e9s de debatir democr\u00e1ticamente llegamos al acuerdo de hacer p\u00fablica nuestra posici\u00f3n en los siguientes temas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Declaramos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n\n
    1. Estamos en contra de la pol\u00edtica gubernamental de violar el derecho a la libertad de religi\u00f3n y creencias recogida en el art\u00edculo 18 de la Carta Internacional de Derechos Humanos. Y exigimos que se redacte el marco legal que permita registrar nuevas iglesias para as\u00ed tener respaldo jur\u00eddico dentro de la ley cubana. Eso es necesario para que el gobierno cubano o cualquier actor social pueda ser demandado cuando viole la Libertad de religi\u00f3n y creencias.<\/li>\n\n\n
    2. Exigimos que el gobierno cubano respete la Declaraci\u00f3n universal de derechos humanos, de la que es firmante y que se integre a los tratados sobre libertades civiles y pol\u00edticas que ofrecen un marco legal para el respeto a las libertades fundamentales del ser humano. Esto implica la liberaci\u00f3n inmediata de todos los presos pol\u00edticos y de conciencia que permanecen hoy en las c\u00e1rceles de la isla. Y el cese inmediato de la aplicaci\u00f3n de procesos judiciales pre-delictivos porque violan directamente el derecho internacional a la presunci\u00f3n de inocencia, derecho que se menciona en la actual constituci\u00f3n de la Rep\u00fablica de Cuba.<\/li>\n\n\n
    3. Exigimos que el gobierno Cubano respete y de soporte a la dignidad de la mujer y que cese la violencia y los feminicidios dentro de la Isla. Para eso exigimos una apertura econ\u00f3mica que permita que las mujeres cubanas puedan tener un salario digno por su trabajo y que as\u00ed no se vean obligadas a prostituirse para conseguir los alimentos y cubrir las necesidades b\u00e1sicas de su familia. Para mitigar la violencia contra la mujer exigimos que las autoridades policiales enfoquen su trabajo a la protecci\u00f3n de la ciudadan\u00eda en vez de gastar sus recursos en perseguir a los que piensan y se manifiestan contra la pol\u00edtica del gobierno.<\/li>\n\n\n
    4. Exigimos el cese de toda manifestaci\u00f3n de esclavitud ejercida por el gobierno cubano. La situaci\u00f3n actual de los trabajadores en la isla sigue siendo precaria ya que por sus esfuerzos los ciudadanos cubanos no reciben un salario que cubra sus necesidades b\u00e1sicas a pesar de generar cuantiosos ingresos que terminan en las arcas del gobierno. Tambi\u00e9n apoyamos la demanda internacional por ejercer la esclavitud que enfrenta el gobierno cubano porque usa las \u201cmisiones m\u00e9dicas\u201d como una fuente de ingresos de divisas al pa\u00eds violando en el proceso los derechos fundamentales del personal m\u00e9dico que trabaja en el extranjero.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
