Lord, we remember all those who have lost loved ones in sectarian violence over the past year. We ask for justice for the victims, and for You to pour comfort and healing on those who are grieving.

This week, please:

• Remember the twelve Christians unjustly imprisoned for life in connection with an outbreak of sectarian violence last April. Pray for an end to inequality before the law.
• Pray for strength, faith, grace and courage for the men imprisoned for life, and for provision and comfort for their families. Pray for a re-examination of this case in a civil court, and for the life sentences to be overturned.
• Pray that in the emerging new Egypt the judiciary would dispense justice without favour or bias, and that state media would no longer be used to disseminate disinformation.
• Pray for the constitution-drafting process, and that the new constitution would enshrine justice, religious freedom and equal treatment for non-Muslims.
• Following highly-organised and appalling assaults on female protesters in Tahrir Square, pray for an end to such acts in the new Egypt. Ask God to comfort and restore the victims, to ensure that women are not intimidated out of the public arena, and that men responsible for assaults are henceforth convicted morally and legally.
• Pray for CSW’s advocates as they lobby for all Egyptians to be treated equally, regardless of ethnicity, gender or religion.
