Ko Jimmy’s energy was evident as he told CSW’s East Asia Team Leader about the human rights work he’s been doing since he was released from prison last year. He’d been imprisoned for his part in leading the pro-democracy movement in 1988, which was viciously suppressed by the government.

Burma has seen so many years of turmoil and oppression – and yet, Burmese Christians and other minorities continue to show our staff that their thirst for freedom and justice is unquenchable.

Meanwhile, CSW continues to train democracy activists from around the country to advocate effectively for their rights, to work with the media, to raise awareness of their local situations, and to formally document human rights violations against their communities.

• Pray that the activists who attended CSW’s training will be able to use their skills to speak up for their right to religious freedom,
• Pray that Ko Jimmy would be given the courage to continue to speak up for democracy and justice,
