The Central African Republic (CAR) continues to experience a fragile peace, with periodic eruptions of violence. There is particular insecurity in Zemio, where thousands were displaced by attacks during the 2025 elections.
Civilians continue to face serious abuses by armed groups, the national army and Russian fighters now known as the Africa Corps – often with impunity. Yet throughout recent conflicts, religious leaders have worked together to rebuild trust, support displaced communities, and promote peace, reconciliation and development.

Our CAR advocate said, ‘When I reflect on the situation in CAR, Central African Republic (CAR) Psalm 46 often comes to mind. Please pray with me that God will be an ever-present help in trouble, especially for religious leaders and peace workers. May those who feel worn down be refreshed.’
- Pray for all who work for peace in CAR. We think of community leaders, imams, priests and pastors, as well as UN peacekeepers who have been targeted . Pray their efforts produce lasting peace and reconciliation, as well as facilitating accountability.
- That communities at risk of violence would be protected. Pray particularly for those who were displaced in episodes of religiously motivated violence, as in Zemio.
- For justice for those who have suffered severe violations, including those targeted because of their religion or belief. Pray specifically for the Special Criminal Court to have the resources needed to carry out its work.
- For CAR’s leaders as a new political chapter unfolds. A controversial amendment allowed President Touadéra to stand for re-election. Other candidates were restricted from campaigning in all parts of the country, while the main opposition party boycotted the election altogether.
