This week we’ll mark UN Refugee Day. Nearly 60 million people worldwide are currently refugees because of conflict, violence and persecution – the highest number since the Second World War. Violations of religious freedom are one of the key reasons why people are forced to leave their countries, so our work at the UN and beyond has never been more relevant – or more in need of your prayers!

• Monday 19 June

First, let’s give thanks for the thousands of people who have taken part in our Real Change for Refugees campaign! Thousands of people like you have taken action on behalf of refugees like the Rohingya in Burma, and we want to thank God for that today!

• Tuesday 20 June

Staying with the Rohingya, today let’s pray for this severely persecuted people group in Burma. They’re an ethnic and religious minority, suffering incredible hardship as the centre of a humanitarian crisis and fleeing military action. They desperately need your prayers today.

• Wednesday 21 June

‘He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.’ Deuteronomy 10:18. On World Refugee Day, join us in praying this verse for all refugees.

• Thursday 22 June

A lot of CSW’s work on the refugee crisis happens at the highest levels of the UN, thanks to our dedicated UN team. Please pray that God would grant them wisdom and bless their efforts today.

• Friday 23 June

Today, please pray for the over five million people in Nigeria who have been displaced by religiously-motivated violence. It’s a number that’s equalled by those leaving Syria. Pray that they would find safety and be protected as they flee.

• Saturday 24 June

God, today we lift to you all those who have had to flee their homes. You know the plight of the refugee intimately – your own son was a refugee just days after he was born. Protect these refugees, we pray, grant them safe journeys and a destination where they can rest. Amen.
