{"id":31727,"date":"2014-12-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/magazines\/together-in-unity-2432\/"},"modified":"2026-09-21T21:21:03","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T20:21:03","slug":"together-in-unity-2432","status":"publish","type":"magazines","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/magazines\/together-in-unity-2432\/","title":{"rendered":"Together in unity"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/3a7cbbd28291bd7f2b672777657255b5.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>How good and pleasant it is when God&#8217;s people live together in unity!<\/b> Psalm 133:1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve all heard these words many times. But too often we allow secondary doctrinal differences to keep us from standing together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet through CSW\u2019s work, I\u2019ve seen in every country the importance\u2028of Christians overcoming theological disagreements in order to fight injustice and persecution. Simply from a numbers perspective, a government is more likely to listen to the whole Christian community than each denomination individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with my colleague Ben Rogers, I visited The Mandalay District Christian Fellowship (MDCF) which was established in 2014, and has 22 members across denominations including Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Evangelical and Baptist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group communicates with the government and other religions on behalf of Christians in Mandalay, and they asked us for advice on how to influence the government and other decision-makers to help tackle injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MDCF has six sub-committees dealing with economic issues, education, health, media, social welfare, and the legal system. These issues affect everyone in Burma, including the Christian minority \u2013 which makes up just 4% of the majority-Buddhist population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reverend JoJo is a Pentecostal minister, and he told me, \u201cWe can all come together to fight for our rights. If we, as Christians, join together we can make real change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found Reverend David TuTu\u2019s testimony inspirational. He said, \u201cI used to only be interested in spiritual issues and felt that social things were worldly. Now I know that as Christians we should ask for our rights. It\u2019s the time of Moses: \u2018Let my people go!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found it incredibly encouraging to see a group of Christian leaders in Burma deciding that their unity was more important than their minor theological differences.
