Only Sunni Islam, the Eritrean Orthodox Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eritrea, and the Roman Catholic Church are officially recognised in Eritrea \u2013 all other church denominations have been banned since 2002. Thousands of Christians are detained without charge or trial, in inhumane, life threatening conditions.
