{"id":26250,"date":"2015-09-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-12T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/prayer\/prayer-diary-egypt-2686\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T21:56:51","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:56:51","slug":"prayer-diary-egypt-2686","status":"publish","type":"prayer","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/prayer\/prayer-diary-egypt-2686\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer Diary: Egypt"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/5031ca327d1c550aa725335c52c20f1d.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Egypt&#8217;s turmoil over the past few years since the so-called Arab Spring has made conditions extremely difficult for Christians and other religious minorities.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve found that many Christians have almost come to accept that their fundamental freedoms are violated \u2013 that they can be regularly arrested and detained, for example \u2013 in the case of fighting terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Christian convert from Islam, Bishoy Armia Boulous (formerly known as Mohammed Hegazy), was arrested in July 2014 on charges of \u2018inciting sectarian strife\u2019, after filming a demonstration for a Christian TV channel. But his solicitor claims the charges are really a result of Bishoy\u2019s attempts in 2007 to change his religion on his ID card to \u2018Christian\u2019 \u2013 an attempt which has so far been unsuccessful. He\u2019s been held in solitary confinement, abused verbally because of his faith, and made to walk barefoot to hearings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Praise God for the strong history of Christianity in Egypt;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Ask God to change the hearts of the prison officials so that they stop mistreating Bishoy;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray that his case would be reviewed, and he would be acquitted and released;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Ask God to bless and encourage Christians who have grown to accept as normal the regular intimidation and kidnappings;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray for CSW\u2019s human rights training sessions in Egypt, raising awareness of human rights and how to fight for them;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray that a long term, effective solution would be found to the political issues in Egypt, that affect so much of everyday life;<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Pray that Egypt would become a place of tolerance and respect for different religions.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Egypts turmoil over the past few years since the so-called Arab Spring has made conditions extremely difficult for Christians and other religious minorities.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":7794,"template":"","regions":[147,145],"class_list":["post-26250","prayer","type-prayer","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","regions-egypt","regions-middle-east-north-africa"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26250","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/prayer"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26250\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":40920,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/prayer\/26250\/revisions\/40920"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7794"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26250"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"regions","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/regions?post=26250"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
