This is emblematic of the worsening state of religious freedom in Indonesia: the country desperately needs your prayers this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Sunday 6 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mosque mentioned above was the last Ahmadiyah mosque in Depok. Please pray that this discrimination against Ahmadi Muslims, who are seen as heretics by the majority Sunni Muslim population, would cease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Monday 7 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discrimination against religious minorities can also take more insidious forms. During our 2017 visit to the country, we heard of a schoolgirl whose best friend stopped associating with her simply because she was a Christian. Please pray that discrimination and harassment is stamped out at every level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Tuesday 8 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Surabaya, Indonesia\u2019s second largest city, three churches were attacked by suicide bombers on 13 May 2018. We visited the churches three months later and heard amazing testimonies of faith, love and forgiveness. Today, please pray for the survivors\u2019 continued recovery and healing, and for God to comfort the families of those who were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Wednesday 9 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indonesia will hold presidential elections in April this year: please pray for God to bless the electoral process with peace and fairness, and that whoever comes to power will prioritise human rights and a return to pluralism and tolerance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Thursday 10 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christians in the Aceh Singkil region have faced violence, threats, and destruction and the forced closure of churches since October 2015. Please join us in committing them to God for protection, healing and spiritual and physical provision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Friday 11 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indonesia\u2019s proud tradition of tolerance faces increasing erosion \u2013 please pray that God would move in the hearts of lawmakers and ordinary Indonesians to strengthen the tradition of \u2018Pancasila\u2019, the founding national principles of unity and peaceful coexistence between religions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><b>Saturday 12 January<\/b><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Heavenly Father, God of governments and nations, we commit the people of Indonesia to you as they enter a year in which they\u2019ll vote for a new president. We ask you to bless the electoral process and move powerfully to bring about change: a return to tolerance, pluralism, and peace for all of Indonesia\u2019s citizens.
