{"id":26650,"date":"2023-05-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/prayer\/prayer-diary-nigeria-6004\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T21:58:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:58:10","slug":"prayer-diary-nigeria-6004","status":"publish","type":"prayer","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/prayer\/prayer-diary-nigeria-6004\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer Diary: Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/7c41eca0939118f9786fb678ff1bb5ee.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With instability and insecurity at unprecedented levels, many were hoping that February\u2019s general election would be an opportunity for change; an opportunity to elect leaders who would work to contain the decades-long crisis of violence, and protect Nigeria\u2019s vulnerable ethnic and religious communities who are intensely targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, the elections were marred by irregularities, with credible reports of rigging, fraud, violence and voter intimidation. At the time of writing, while the results of the presidential election \u2013 which, oddly, were declared at 4.00am \u2013 are still being disputed in court, arrangements are being made for the inauguration of Bola Ahmad Tinubu, the disputed winner, on Monday 29 May, amid significant discontent and growing protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/our_work_country_nigeria.htm\" target=\"_blank\">csw.org.uk\/nigeria<\/a> for our latest updates and analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>No matter the outcome, our prayers for Nigeria remain the same: we want to see this nation transformed. Below are two prayers, inspired by Luke 17:5-6.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i><b>\u2018The apostles said to the Lord, \u201cIncrease our faith!\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Lord Jesus, we also cry out: \u2018Increase our faith!\u2019<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Increase our faith that change is possible in Nigeria.
