{"id":30597,"date":"2020-09-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-13T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/reports\/written-submission-to-hrc45-4804\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T19:34:33","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:34:33","slug":"written-submission-to-hrc45-4804","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/reports\/written-submission-to-hrc45-4804\/","title":{"rendered":"Written submission to HRC45"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/163cad9edf595be2514a1845be30755e.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a statement by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) on the situation of human rights in the Republic of Sudan, with an emphasis on the right to freedom of religion or belief (FoRB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Significant political change has taken place in the past year. In April 2019 President Omar al Bashir was removed from office and replaced by a Transitional Military Council (TMC). Following months of negotiation, civilians who led demonstrations across Sudan formed a joint transitional administration that has been in power since September 2019. Its formation followed the signing of a new transitional constitution and agreement on the creation of a transitional legislative council. Together these institutions created the mechanisms to implement a substantial programme of reforms. When taking office President Hamdouk Abdalla prioritised resolving the country\u2019s chronic conflicts, reforming the economy and political reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has begun to establish its country office in Sudan; currently four international staff and three national staff have been recruited.
