{"id":30639,"date":"2021-03-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/reports\/hrc46-oral-statement-during-id-with-special-rapporteur-on-forb-5160\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T19:35:46","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:35:46","slug":"hrc46-oral-statement-during-id-with-special-rapporteur-on-forb-5160","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/reports\/hrc46-oral-statement-during-id-with-special-rapporteur-on-forb-5160\/","title":{"rendered":"HRC46: Oral statement during ID with Special Rapporteur on FoRB"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/71f703caaa70e3ce5f680dc708053160.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Item 3:<\/b>Interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Organisation:<\/b>Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Speaker:<\/b> Claire Denman<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you, Madame President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CSW welcomes the Special Rapporteur attention on instances of anti-Muslim discrimination and hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We share the Rapporteur\u2019s concerns regarding India\u2019s discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We urge India to conduct a review of the CAA and NRC, to ensure that it is in keeping with the country\u2019s commitment under the Constitution and to address instances of impunity for incitement, hate speech and violent attacks against Muslims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Cuba, CSW regrets the government\u2019s decision to deny Ms Yusdeylin Mercedes Olivera Nu\u00f1ez, a Muslim woman, the right to travel abroad to seek potentially lifesaving treatment currently unavailable in Cuba, in a move that she believes is linked to her affiliation with the unregistered Cuban Association for<b><\/b>the Dissemination of Islam (CADI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Olivera Nu\u00f1ez was first targeted in 2015 after leaving the Islamic League of Cuba, the only officially registered Muslim association and was sentenced to five years of restricted liberty on fabricated charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We call on the Cuban government to clear her to travel immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, CSW welcomes the Rapporteur\u2019s attention on the situation for Muslims in China, including in the Uyghur region where individuals have been indefinitely and arbitrarily detained for acts as basic as accessing religious material and engaging in peaceful religious activities, including praying or wearing \u2018Islamic\u2019 clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We urge China to immediately release all prisoners of conscience detained in connection with their religion or belief.
