{"id":30642,"date":"2021-03-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/reports\/hrc46-oral-statement-during-general-debate-under-agenda-item-3-5176\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T21:43:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:43:45","slug":"hrc46-oral-statement-during-general-debate-under-agenda-item-3-5176","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/reports\/hrc46-oral-statement-during-general-debate-under-agenda-item-3-5176\/","title":{"rendered":"HRC46: Oral statement during general debate under Agenda Item 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/7b441ddbb7659aa6fbe9bcebd5942115.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Item 3:<\/b> General Debate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Organisation:<\/b> Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Speaker:<\/b>\u57c3\u5229\u65af\u00b7\u5e0c\u65af\u5229<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you, Madame President,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CSW urges the Council to fully support transitional justice rooted in accountability and redress for victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are concerned by the brazen assault on democracy by the Myanmar military, who already stand accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against the country\u2019s ethnic nationalities, including the Rohingya, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Karen and Ta\u2019ang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While we welcome the convening of a special session on the situation, a decisive international response is still required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We call for robust sanctions, targeting the military and their enterprises, while avoiding measures that would affect the people or country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also call for a global arms embargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The coup illustrates the power imbalance inherent in military-civilian hybrid leadership, and the obstacles this can present to democratisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similar concerns arise with Sudan.
