{"id":30678,"date":"2021-09-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-12T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csw-yeo.1wp.site\/reports\/hrc48-oral-statement-during-id-with-the-independent-investigative-5398\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T19:36:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:36:29","slug":"hrc48-oral-statement-during-id-with-the-independent-investigative-5398","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/www.csw.org.uk\/zh\/reports\/hrc48-oral-statement-during-id-with-the-independent-investigative-5398\/","title":{"rendered":"HRC48: Oral Statement during ID with the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/489e68a04c94abc28047aef54204066c.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Item 2:<\/b>Interactive Dialogue with the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Organisation:<\/b> Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Speaker:<\/b>Claire Denman<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you, Madame President,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CSW welcomes the report of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar and thanks the Mechanism for its continued work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mandate of the Mechanism has become even more pressing in light of the military coup of 1 February 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result of the coup, Myanmar is now in the hands of the military generals who the UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission recommended be investigated and prosecuted for crimes against humanity and war crimes, including the crime of genocide in Rakhine state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We share the Mechanism\u2019s preliminary findings that events in the country since the coup may amount to further crimes against humanity, including murder, persecution, imprisonment, sexual violence, enforced disappearance and torture.
