You’ll notice a new look to this issue of the Prayer Diary. Our passion is to equip you to pray into some of the most desperate situations around the world, so we’ve made some changes we hope will do that. We hope you enjoy your new-look Prayer Diary; do let us know if you have any comments!

We’re so thankful that a peace agreement has been declared in Colombia between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a leftist guerrilla group that controls much of the country. Today, please pray that this agreement will mark a new era for Colombia.

Marilin was dragged from her bed at 5am one morning as her two daughters, aged 11 and 12, watched. She was arrested and taken away. Government officials then proceeded to demolish the Emanuel Church building in Eastern Cuba – the church Marilin and her husband Alain lead, which was also their home. Marilin was later released, but she and her family are still reeling from this shocking event. Please pray for them today.

2016 is an election year for Peru: voting was held last month and it was an extremely tense time. Please pray for the new government as they take office. Pray that they will work to address the continuing human rights issues in the country that can so often lead to religious freedom violations.

In Cuba, Reverend Yiorvis Bravo Denis continues to fight to be recognised as the legal owner of his home, which is also the headquarters of the Apostolic Church Movement. If the government closes it down it’ll be the latest in a series of attacks on his denomination. Let’s pray for Reverend Yiorvis today.

Lord, this week we ask you to protect your people in Latin America. Protect them in the face of harassment and violence, and change the hearts of those who want to force them out. Amen.

Mario Felix Lleonart Barroso and Yoaxis Marcheco Suarez are a remarkable couple! They fight tirelessly for religious freedom in Cuba: Mario Felix as a pastor and human rights activist, and Yoaxis as a blogger. Mario Felix was arrested and imprisoned during President Obama’s visit to Cuba earlier this year. Please pray for Mario and Yoaxis as they suffer the consequences of their courage.

We’re so grateful for our partners in Latin America, who work tirelessly to raise awareness about freedom of religion and other human rights violations. Let’s end the week by giving thanks for their work and praying for their safety.
