This week is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. CSW works with Christians of all denominations and backgrounds, so the importance of unity can’t be overstated. Egypt has seen a tumultuous few years since the revolution in January 2011. But a landmark moment for unity in the Egyptian Church occurred that November, when 70,000 Christians from the various denominations met to pray together. The unity shown on that day has continued to hold the Church together in the midst of continued uncertainty in Egypt, and in 2013, the Council for Egyptian Churches was formed to maintain that unity.

This week, please:

• Pray for the worldwide Church to support all those facing harassment, discrimination or persecution because of their beliefs;
• Pray that God will continue to strengthen Christians in Egypt in difficult circumstances;
• Ask God to help churches in Pakistan to stand together after the recent bombing in Peshawar and other attacks;
• Ask God to help each church in Cuba to stay strong under increasing pressure from the government;
• Pray for the unity of churches in Eritrea, where only three denominations are legally permitted, and especially for the safety of the underground church networks;
• Ask God to give wisdom to Iranian church leaders as they come under increasing state pressure;
• Ask God to help his Church across the world to experience greater unity, especially in places where they face harassment, discrimination and persecution.
