Heavenly Father, we thank and praise You for Your good plan for the nation of Egypt. As the nation seeks to move forward with a newly-elected president and government, we ask You to work out Your purposes in Egypt for the benefit of all Egyptians.

This week, please:

• Pray for the newly-elected president and government. Ask God to grant them wisdom, and a just spirit as they take on leadership of the nation.
• Give thanks for the ways that the Coptic community has engaged in the democratic process and ask God to give them wisdom as they participate in the ‘new’ Egypt.
• Pray for an end to attacks on the Coptic community and for the continued strengthening of relationships across religious communities.
• Pray that the leaders of the new Egypt would prioritise the need for security, stability and justice, and would promote religious freedom for all faith groups and equality of citizenship.
• Ask God to bless the leadership of the Coptic Church as they seek to contribute in positive ways to Egypt’s future.
• Pray for the families of over 800 people killed during the Revolution who still seek justice after four officials arrested in connection with the deaths were freed and former president Mubarak and interior minister al-Adly received were jailed for complicity in them, and not for ordering them.
