When we visited Pakistan in 2014, the situation facing Christians was worse than it has ever been and we were repeatedly told by the people we met that they had given up hope. The seeds of hate are sown throughout Pakistani society. Whether through the media, in the education system, via social media or public discourse, prejudice is tolerated and bred to such an extent that the environment is ripe for an attack on religious minorities. Let’s join together in praying hope back into Pakistan!

This week please:

• Pray for the victim-survivors of the attack on Joseph Colony, who are still struggling to rebuild their lives;
• Pray for the children of the Joseph Colony families who were attacked, that they would not grow up to hate their Muslim neighbours because of what happened to them;
• Give thanks for the Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation who have been working with and supporting victims of the Joseph Colony attacks;
• Thank God for Michelle Chaudhry’s work running inter-faith initiatives to rebuild relationships between Christian and Muslim neighbours following the Joseph Colony attacks;
• Ask God to bring about a change of heart in all those who preach hatred against religious minorities in Pakistan;
• Pray that God would move in power to bring an end to the tide of hate against Christians and other religious minorities;
• Pray that steps would be taken to develop appropriate curricula at schools and colleges to promote a culture of religious tolerance.
