Next Saturday, 20 June, is World Refugee Day. This week, please pray for the millions around the world who have had to leave their homes due to what they’ve experienced in their homelands because of their faith. It could be that their houses have been destroyed. They might have been threatened with violence or received death threats, against them or their families.

Thousands of people flee Eritrea every year, trying to escape a regime that’s among the most despotic in the world (see week 8). It’s a difficult and extremely dangerous journey, away from a country where around 2,000 Christians are currently detained without charge or trial.

This week please:

• Ask God to give wisdom to people who are under threat and having to make the difficult decision whether to leave their homes;
• Ask God to protect Eritreans who are forced to flee their homeland;
• Pray that they would be kept safe from abusive people traffickers as they try to find safety in another country;
• Pray that Eritrea would end its shoot to kill border policy;
• Pray that China would end its policy of forcibly repatriating North Korean refugees;
• Thank God for countries which have given refuge to people fleeing persecution;
• Pray that more countries would be moved to accept refugees from persecution.
