Our latest prayer diary
8-14 November
Sunday 8 November
Over the summer, four individuals (three Christians and one Muslim) were acquitted of false blasphemy allegations. Praise God for this encouraging development, particularly as it took place in lower courts which are often fearful of extremist groups that put pressure on judges to secure convictions.
Monday 9 十一月
Pray for the swift acquittal of those who remain imprisoned on false blasphemy charges, and for the protection of judges so that they can dispense timely justice without fear. Ultimately, we pray for radical reform to repeal Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws.
Tuesday 10 十一月
As in previous years, members of Pakistan’s Ahmadiyya community were targeted during celebrations of Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha. Pray that the community would be free to practice their religion without fear of arrest or harassment.
Wednesday 11 十一月
In June, three Ahmadiyya security volunteers were shot and critically injured when an unidentified gunman opened fire on their vehicle, which was stationed outside the Baitul Aqsa mosque in Rabwah (Chenab Nagar), Punjab Province. Please pray for their full recovery.
Thursday 12 十一月
In August, Pakistan observed National Minority Day. Events were held across the country, in which government representatives and politicians reaffirmed the promise of equal citizenship for all. Ask God to grant Pakistan’s leaders wisdom in making this promise a reality.
Friday 13 十一月
Please continue to pray for Maria Shahbaz. She is currently appealing a federal court decision which ruled that she could stay married to a man who abducted and forcibly converted her to Islam when she was just 13. Pray that justice is served.
Saturday 14 十一月
Almighty God, we pray for the hundreds of Christian and Hindu girls like Maria Shahbaz who have been abducted, forcibly married and forcibly converted in recent years. Comfort and deliver them, Lord Jesus. Bring a lasting end to this unacceptable trend in Pakistan. Amen.
