On Thursday the UK goes to the polls. Show up at the general election and make sure religious freedom stays on the government’s agenda!

Politics might not be one of your interests, but we do believe that Christians have a responsibility to engage actively in politics. Voting is one of the most significant ways you can engage in politics and pursue peace (Psalm 34:14) – it also recognises the equality of all people and their right to be heard. And remember that not voting is a form of voting, as it will influence the outcome.

So we’re not telling you who to vote for on Thursday, but it’s really important that you do vote! History is made by people who show up and speak out to shape the future – this is your chance.

This week please:

• Thank God that we live in a democracy where everyone has a say in how they would like the country to be run;
• Pray that Christians across the UK would be convicted of the necessity of voting;
• Ask God to bless all the candidates as they wait to hear the results in their constituencies;
• Thank God for the many Christian MPs who live out their faith through their politics;
• Pray that whoever takes office would ensure religious freedom remains a human rights priority for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office;
• Thank God for MPs such as Fiona Bruce who have spoken up on human rights issues;
• Pray that the UK would become known as an outspoken defender at the international level of the right to religious freedom.
