Northern and central states have witnessed a disturbing series of brutal incidents, including devastating gun or bomb attacks on church services.

Lord, please move in power to bring an end to the campaign of violence launched by terrorist group Boko Haram and to attacks on non-Muslim villages. Send Your Spirit of peace to Nigeria we pray.

This week, please:

• Pray for all those who have lost loved ones in Boko Haram’s recent attacks, asking God to comfort and provide for them.
• Ask God to equip, provide for and protect CSW Nigeria staff as they seek to support the victims of violences and their families.
• Give thanks for the peace-building initiatives launched by Christian and Muslim young people, which aim to foster peaceful relations between the two communities. Also give thanks for the reconciliation initiative by the ECWA church in Tudun Nupawa Kaduna, which donated food items to six local mosques to assist the least privileged families with their post Ramadan feasts.
• Pray that more bridges will be build across different faith communities with the aim of restoring peace and hope to the nation, and that credible existing peace initiatives will be strengthened.
• Pray that all Nigerians would work together for the peace and future of their nation, regardless of creed, tribe or political affiliation.
• Pray for Anglican Archbishop of Jos, Benjamin Kwashi and other church leaders as they attempt to steer and support Christians during these turbulent times. Pray also for boldness for more Muslim leaders to choose the path of reconciliation.
