Northern and central states have witnessed a disturbing series of brutal incidents, including devastating gun or bomb attacks on church services.

Lord, we ask Your blessing on all those who work for peace and religious freedom in Nigeria. We pray Your kingdom come and Your will be done in the nation, in Jesus’ name.

This week, please:

• Pray for non-Muslim villages on the outskirts of Jos, which were the victims of brutal attacks in July. Pray also for the families of over 100 people murdered during these attacks, including the families of the two prominent politicians who died during an assault on the funeral for these victims.
• Pray for protection for the Governor of Kaduna state and his family. Their Christian faith make them a primary target for Boko Haram.
• Pray for Kogi state after a mosque and churches were attacked in August. Pray for comfort and peace for the victims’ families, that the perpetrators would be apprehended, and that the Boko Haram network in the state would be disposed and totally dismantled.
• Pray for loved ones of Pastor Ali Samuri, a pastor in Maiduguri, who was murdered by gunmen in August.
• Pray for boldness, courage and divine strategy for President Jonathan’s administration as it tackles the Boko Haram menace. Ask for God’s sovereign intervention to bring this organisation to an end.
• Give thanks that CSW was able to make an unplanned visit to Nigeria to visit the victims of the recent violence. Pray for CSW’s ongoing advocacy and awareness-raising of the religion-related violence in Nigeria.
