The bloodshed continues in northern and central Nigeria, where for many Christians daily life consists of chronic discrimination and tension which periodically erupts into deadly organised violence. The Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, is responsible for ongoing attacks in these areas.

Twelve people died in Christmas attacks on churches in Yobe and Borno States. Twenty homes and a church were subsequently razed to the ground.

It deeply saddens us that this loss of life continues unabated, and we believe God’s heart is grieved by this. As a staff team we pray for Nigeria on a regular basis.

Join us in prayer this week for Nigeria:

• Please pray for the families of the victims of the violence, who have endured grief and injustice for far too long,
• Pray that God would place his hand of protection over Christians in northern and central Nigeria,
• Pray that the hearts of the leaders of Boko Haram, the organisation responsible for many of the attacks, would be moved to peace,
• Pray for CSW’s team working on Sub-Saharan Africa to be strengthened, encouraged and given insight in their ongoing advocacy work.
