On 8 March the world will mark International Women’s Day. On that day, the Ladies in White will be preparing for another Sunday of peaceful protest – and risking imprisonment.

Every Sunday, these Cuban women protest against the imprisonments of their family members by attending Mass wearing white dresses to symbolise peace, and then silently marching through the streets. Over the years, their peaceful actions have led to many of their members being threatened and arrested.

This week please:

• Thank God for the courage of the Ladies in White, as they continue to protest injustice despite the government’s attempts to silence them
• Ask God to protect them as they exercise their right to peaceful protest
• Pray that the rights of women all over the world would be respected
