Over 40 people have been killed the last two years in Bangladesh some were targeted based on their religious identity and others were secular voices speaking out against religious extremism in the country. This wave of shocking violence has created feelings of instability in the country and adds to an already difficult and complex situation. Many of these killings have gone unnoticed by the rest of the world. Please pray for Bangladesh this week.

Compounding the violent targeted killings is a mistrust in the police, which has heightened people’s fears. Government and local officials, together with the police, need to take practical steps to address internal corruption, ensure equality of treatment and restore trust in the justice system. Let’s pray today for that to become reality.

Dear Lord, we bring Bangladesh before you and ask you to work in the hearts of government officials, and give them the strategies to protect vulnerable minorities who are victims of violence and discrimination. Protect those who are brave enough to speak out against injustice, and watch over them as they carry out their vital work. Amen.
