This is a vital week as the UK hosts the Freedom of Religion or Belief Ministerial Conference, where leaders from around the world will gather to discuss freedom of religion or belief. They will hear directly from those who have endured religious persecution, receive briefings and input from organisations like CSW, and discuss how they can work together towards a world where everyone is free to believe. We’re excited that world leaders are taking this issue so seriously and we pray that, as we’ve worked so hard towards this opportunity, God would make our efforts fruitful.

Sunday 3 July
There are dozens of ‘fringe’ events around the Ministerial – in schools, universities and places of worship – to help raise awareness. One of our key aims is to galvanise the next generation. Pray that young activists would be inspired to stand with everyone facing injustice for what they believe.
Monday 4 July
Several survivors of persecution have been invited to the Ministerial to share their stories. Their testimonies help to ground conversations, so that leaders understand the realities that religious and belief communities around the world are facing. Pray that their stories will capture people’s hearts so that leaders feel compelled to act.
Tuesday 5 July
Today the Ministerial begins, opening with the National Prayer Breakfast. As leaders hold discussions on key themes like blasphemy laws and mass atrocity prevention, pray for a coming together of minds, inspired thinking and viable solutions.
Wednesday 6 July
It’s vital that the Ministerial goes beyond discussions and that clear actions are agreed. Pray that leaders would be ambitious and bold in their thinking and come away with a robust plan.
Thursday 7 July
Although the Ministerial is a two-day event, this entire week is an opportunity for CSW advocates to engage with foreign secretaries and other advocacy targets who have travelled to London. Pray for opportunities and open hearts.
Friday 8 July
‘If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.’ James 1:5 ESV. Pray for wisdom for all those who took part this week as they return home to continue their work.
Saturday 9 July
Heavenly Father, thank you that you are always at work to bring your kingdom of justice and peace on earth. We pray today for leaders who will persevere to see through this work, from words to action. Amen.
