Sri Lanka has been ravaged by the effects of a decades long civil war, which ended in brutal circumstances in May 2009. It is important that the troubled process of national reconciliation should take into account the need for ethnic and religious pluralism, especially in light of rising violence by Sinhala Buddhist extremists against Muslims and Christians.
