Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) is pleased to announce the launch of CSW Nigeria and to congratulate Rev. Yanusa Nmadu, its Founder-Director.
CSW Nigeria aims to help promote a peaceful and just society for all Nigerians and to encourage religious liberty in the country through prayer, supporting those in need, and evidence based advocacy. The organisation will work in partnership with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) which represents most of the Christian denominations in the country.
CSW Nigeria was formally launched on 13 November at the Abuja home of respected veteran politician Chief Solomon Lar, who was also elected chair of the organisation's board of trustees. In his welcoming address Chief Lar expressed his enthusiasm for what he felt was a timely and important new initiative.
In his speech CAN General Secretary and CSW trustee Engineer Salifu welcomed the creation of an organisation that would advocate for the Christian community in a more professional and organised manner, a sentiment echoed by HRH Dr Harrison Bungon in his closing address. Both are on CSW Nigeria's board of trustees.
Director of CSW Nigeria, Rev. Yanusa Nmadu said: "We are both happy and fulfilled today as we feel that the creation of CSW Nigeria will facilitate the unity of the body of Christ and give a voice to the voiceless."
Rev. Stuart Windsor, CSW UK's National Director spoke at the official launch ceremony, which was attended by over 30 people.
CSW's Advocacy Director, Tina Lambert said: "CSW is delighted to announce the launch of CSW Nigeria and would like to especially thank the Christian Association of Nigeria for their continued support in making this launch possible. We are confident that CSW Nigeria will play an important role in building peace across the country and exposing and addressing injustice. We are delighted to be partnering with them in this vision for a unified Nigeria in which there is religious tolerance, religious freedom and support for the victims of violence".
