CSW deeply saddened by death of Cecil Chaudhry

14 Apr 2012

CSW has received the news that renowned Pakistani human rights activist and retired fighter pilot, Group Captain Cecil Chaudhry, passed away in hospital yesterday afternoon after a battle with lung cancer.

Cecil Chaudhry, a Catholic, had a distinguished career in the Pakistani Air Force, and became a decorated war hero who was respected by Pakistanis of all faiths. He later dedicated his life to education, as the headmaster of two prestigious schools, and to his work as a human rights activist who fought over many years for the rights of all minorities in Pakistan.

CSW's Special Ambassador, Stuart Windsor, had known Cecil for over fifteen years. He said, "We are deeply saddened by this news. Cecil was a true gentleman of courage, dedication and integrity, and he was a source of inspiration to many both in Pakistan and around the world. He will be greatly missed. He had been well known to CSW and our supporters in the UK, and we would like to assure his family of our prayers, support and love during this difficult and painful time."
