Ben Rogers, CSW East Asia Team Leader
Ben is the author of several books on Burma, including Burma: A Nation at the Crossroads (2012, Random House). He has visited Burma and its borderlands more than 40 times, has testified at hearings in the British Parliament, European Parliament, US Congress and spoken at conferences and in the media around the world. 

Zoya Phan, Campaigns Manager, Burma Campaign UK
Zoya Phan is one of the leading Burma democracy activists in Europe working to promote human rights, democracy and development in Burma, and the World Economic Forum recognises her as a Young Global Leader. She is ethnic Karen, born in Manerplaw, Karen State in Burma. Her autobiography, Little Daughter: A memoir of survival in Burma and the West, was published in 2010.

Paul Scully MP
Paul Scully is the MP for Sutton and Cheam, and is the first Member of the British Parliament to be of Burmese heritage. His father left Burma in the 1950s, and the rest of his family after the coup in 1962. Following his election last year Paul said, “I’ve always been very proud of my Burmese heritage.” Paul is the Co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Democracy in Burma.

FAQs

Do I have to pay to attend?
No, the event is free, but please register so we know how many people to expect.

Can I bring a friend along on the day?
We would love you to bring a friend. We would prefer it if they also signed up in advance, but they can also register on the day from 6.30pm.

When does the event start?
The event starts at 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm).

When will the event finish?
We expect the event to finish at 9pm.

Is there parking?
There is limited parking on surrounding roads and a multi-story car park on Great College Street. You won't have to pay the congestion charge if you do decide to drive as it only applies on weekdays. Parking can be rather difficult in central London so we would recommend that you take public transport.

How do I register?
You can register online above or alternatively you can register on the day (though we do prefer if you register online). If you don’t have access to the internet you can call the office on 0845 456 5464 and register by speaking to our events coordinator Heather Fenton.

Where is the event? 
The Burma Day of Prayer is being held at the Emmanuel Centre, 9-23 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3DW.

How do I get there?
The venue is within walking distance of St. James's Park and Westminster tube stations, several key bus routes, main line Victoria station. Please check your travel details online at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ using the Emmanuel Centre postcode SW1P 3DW.

Can I bring people from my church?
Of course, please do! They will all need to complete a registration form.

Is there disabled access?
Yes. If you require disabled access, or any other kind of help on the day, it can be provided but please let us know prior to the event so we can make suitable arrangements.
