Be a lifeline of hope this Easter...
We have prepared some materials for your church to use during a service or small group to focus on people facing injustice for their faith.
You can use these to help your congregation or small group understand more about the lives of religious minorities who are targeted for their beliefs and to encourage prayer and giving to help those in need.
Pakistan is just one of many countries where individual’s right to choose, change or practise a religion or belief is restricted. Religious intolerance is growing at an alarming rate in Pakistan.
A number of factors - including forced conversion and forced marriage, radicalisation through biased education and the politicisation of the blasphemy laws - have contributed to widespread religious intolerance. Recent years have also seen increased sectarian violence and targeted attacks on religious minorities.
One such attack took place on Easter Sunday in 2016 when a suicide bomb attack targeting the Christian community in Pakistan killed over 72 people and injured around 300.
The devastating attack took place in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore on 27 March, where families from Lahore’s Christian community were celebrating the Easter holiday. One bomb was detonated near the entrance to the park close to the children’s swing area, killing many women and children.
Watch. Pray. Give. Be a lifeline of hope this Easter.
