Pursue Justice 2016: speaking out for religious freedom


Join hundreds of CSW supporters for an inspiring day of expert speakers, real life testimonies, latest news from the frontlines.

Please mention it to your church leaders now, you might be able to organise a group from your church to come! The whole event is designed to equip you and other Christians you know in your biblical role of encouraging the persecuted Church and speaking up for religious freedom.

Ben Kwashi

 


Archbishop Benjamin Kwashi
The Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Argak Kwashi is Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jos and Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Jos in the Church of Nigeria.  He and his wife, Gloria, live in Jos, Plateau State, in Northern Nigeria.  They have six children and also have over 50 orphans living with them in their home. Bishop Kwashi grew up in a Christian home; his father was a noted teacher. He attended the Nigerian Military School, but when he received a clear call to go into ministry, he turned his back on a military career.  After ordination and marriage he served in a variety of rural and urban parishes, and then as Rector of a Theological College. He was consecrated and enthroned as Bishop of Jos in 1992.

Bishop Angaelos
His Grace Bishop Angaelos, member of CSW's Board of Reference,  was consecrated a General Bishop of the UK in 1999 by His Holiness, the late Pope Shenouda III. Since then he has specialised in initiatives relating to advocacy, human rights, international religious freedom and development work, and is a member of, and chairs, numerous local, national and international bodies dealing with these matters. His Grace is founder and convener of the Asylum Advocacy Group which works closely in partnership with the All Party Parliamentary Group on International Religious Freedom or Belief. This extensive work has been recognised in His Grace being conferred with the honour of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty The Queen, for ‘Services to International Religious Freedom’.

Muyiwa Olarewaju:  
Muyiwa Olarewaju is the station director at Premier Gospel (Premier Radio), the number 1 gospel music station in the UK. He is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and the leader of Riversongz, a popular gospel act. Riversongz have toured with Stevie Wonder and individually have worked with a variety of artists from Emelie Sandé and Pixie Lott to Amy Winehouse.

 Stephen Timms

 


Stephen Timms MP:
The Rt Hon Stephen Timms is currently the Member of Parliament for East Ham. He is also the Labour Party's Faith Envoy, helping to develop the party's links with different faith groups. Stephen entered Parliament in 1994 and held a number of ministerial posts under the previous Labour Government including Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Financial Secretary to the Treasury. In Opposition, he was Shadow Minister for Employment from 2010 to 2015. Stephen is also a member of the Ramblers Association and Chair of Christians on the Left. He is also a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief, presented at the International Human Rights Day debate on religious freedom and attended the CSW toolkit launch last year.

Rev Joel Edwards:
Reverend Joel Edwards is CSW’s Strategic Advisor, with specific oversight of our advocacy work, and is undertaking a doctorate exploring the place of religious freedom and human rights as part of the Church's mission. Joel is a freelance broadcaster with the BBC, and a writer and international speaker on a wide range of areas including Bible teaching, justice, leadership, faith response to human rights, religious freedom and current affairs.

Andy Freeman:
Andy Freeman works for the Church Mission Society training and supporting Pioneers and Pioneer Ministry in the UK.  He has a background with the 24-7 Prayer movement and now explores that through Space to Breathe, a vehicle for placing contemplative prayer practice in everyday settings.  Andy has five children and lives in Winchester. Andy is passionate about equipping Christians to pray effectively to bring justice around the world.

    Find out how your lobbying and campaigning has a very real impact in the corridors of power and be inspired by Stephen Timms MP sharing how his faith fuels his passion for using his position in Parliament to seek justice. FAQs

Do I have to pay to attend?
No, the event is free, but please register so we know how many people to expect.

Can I bring a friend along on the day?
We would love you to bring a friend. They can register on the day from 11am.

When does the event start?
The event starts at midday but doors open at 11am for registration.

When will the event finish?
We expect the event to finish at 4:00pm.

Is there parking?
No, but there is a multi-storey carpark available off Glenthorne Road.

Will food or drinks be provided?
No food will be provided by CSW, but lunch can be purchased from the Kettle and Crust Café which is located within St Paul's Hammersmith Centre.

How do I register?
You can register online above
or alternatively you can register on the day (though we do prefer if you register online). If you don’t have access to the internet you can call the office on 0845 456 5464
and register by speaking to our events coordinator Heather Fenton.

Yes, there is wheelchair access and space for wheelchairs in the auditorium. If you require any other kind of help on the day please
